Motorola Xoom Android Tablet Wins ‘Best of CES’ At CES 2011

CES 2011 will undoubtedly go down as the year of the tablet. Almost every manufacturer at the show are showing off some form of tablet to compete with the iPad, or so it seems. Thus it shouldn’t come as a major surprise to learn that the ‘Best in Show’ award was given to a tablet.

The Xoom is Motorola’s best foot forward in the tablet game sporting the much anticipated Android 3 Honeycomb OS. Motorola Xoom is powered by a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and features a gorgeous 10-inch HD display, an HDMI-out port (where art thou iPad?), front and back cameras and a 4G data connection. Needless to say, it’s loaded and probably the most capable competitor to Apple’s current dominance in the tablet computing game.

The Motorola Xoom is not expected to hit store shelves in the U.S. until Spring at the earliest. By that time, Steve Jobs may very well be walking on stage at the Moscone Center to unveil the iPad 2 which could make much of the Xoom obsolete before it ever goes on sale. Nonetheless, Motorola is dreaming big with the Xoom as rumors of 800,000 to 1 million unit sales expected before Summer 2011. Ambitious to say the least.
