Sony Disses DSi

It's no secret that Nintendo has dominated handheld gaming ever since the first Game Boy was launched. Sony's attempt at taking a piece of the pie is represented by the PSP, but even its superior hardware has proven to be no match against the DS. The launch of the DSi brought the spotlight to Nintendo again. How does Sony react? John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America does so by ruffling a few feathers.

"If Nintendo is really committed to reaching a broader, more diverse audience of gamers beyond the "kids" market that they've always engaged, there isn't much new with the DSi to support that. Significant gamer demographic groups are being ignored, and there continues to be limited opportunities for games from external publishers to do well on the DSi."

Read that, DS gamers? You're using a platform designed for kids! Never mind that it has great titles and a games library larger than the PSP. Forget the fact that RPGs and strategy games exist and succeed on it. PSP owners are much more mature than you.

To be honest, folks, these things are best handled by marketing people. Oh wait, Koller's from marketing. Did somebody actually read this guy's résumé?
