Review: Nintendo DSi

nintendodsi.jpg

Those of you keeping an eye on gaming technology know that the Nintendo DSi is right around the corner. The question is whether you should upgrade or not. What exactly are you signing up for if you choose to do so? Are the improvements worth it? Most importantly, will it change the way you play games?

The DSi is a DS that's just a little nicer, a moderate upgrade that's more Sony's style than Nintendo's. This isn't the jump you saw from the original DS to the DS Lite, but something more akin to the PSP 2000 to 3000, or the GBA to the GBA SP. The DSi could be renamed the DS Slightly Liter.

And there you go. You'll notice the words "little", "moderate" and "slightly", making the DSi only marginally better than the DS. It's not a necessary upgrade and it's not a must-have either if you don't own a Nintendo handheld yet. However, if you can spare the extra $40 USD, then you might want to consider it.
