More Steampunk & Elegant Keyboards

From keyboards to robots: steampunk seems to be a recurring theme these days. Built from Japan, Steam Walker is a functional robot that moves slowly, but at least works. Unfortunately, the site doesn't explain how to build one, unlike the steampunk keyboard. Oh well, maybe we'll get more information once the unit has more mobility.

Since we already mentioned keyboards, here's another mod from Japan (again). It's a lacquerware keyboard. "Each key is hand-painted with 10 coats of lacquer before it's dusted with real gold." How's that for a classy look? I wonder how it sounds though. You know, the distinctive sound that keys make?

Our final news item is an update on DRM. Following up on their recent breakthrough, ATARI Vampire of the Doom9 forum discovered how to bypass AACS:

The intense effort by the fair-use community to circumvent AACS (the content protection protocol of HD DVD and Blu-Ray) has produced yet another stunning result: The AACS Device Key of the WinDVD 8 has been found, allowing any movie playable by it to be decrypted.

These guys are serious about their war with DRM. Which side are you on?
