Engadget Pays Tribute To The Gates Era

Engadget has written a top ten list of the hits and misses of Bill Gates. Yes, love him or hate him, he brought computers to the mass market with Windows and while some might find that statement contestable, the numbers don't lie. So what were the things that Bill can look back on and smile about? Strangely enough, Windows appears on both lists, but Vista isn't the only version that made the bad one. Read on.

Windows ME

It's not exactly clear what the point of Windows Millennium Edition was -- our guess is that Microsoft needed to keep up with that year-based product naming scheme it had going at the time, and cranked out this half-baked update to '98 in order to capitalize on the turn-of-the-millenium frenzy.

I suggest you take a look at both lists and see if you agree with it. I still remember the first time I used Windows 3.1. From the perspective of a DOS and WordStar user, the experience was certainly unforgettable.
