Comcast Reveals Bandwidth Limits

You probably read it somewhere before, but at this point, Comcast's controversial business practices shouldn't be news anymore. In case this is the first time you've heard of it, Wikipedia has an entire section devoted to it. For example, Comcast is advertising unlimited high-speed Internet access for its customers. In truth, there's actually a limit, which remained a secret until this week.

Comcast has announced that it will in fact be introducing bandwidth caps to all residential customers. The cap, which will go into effect as of October 1, will be 250GB per month. Comcast justifies the decision by saying that it's "an extremely large amount of data," and that a very large majority of customers will never cross it.

The source article notes that the limit is actually pretty high and will unlikely be crossed by standard consumers. However, the very existence of a limit in what was advertised as unlimited is enough to raise a lot of eyebrows.
